Green Plug Launches at DEMO 08
Imagine one external power adapter that works for all DC-powered electronic devices. Now imagine that as these devices are replaced and recycled, the upgraded hardware continues to use the same external power supply. How much energy, material, and landfill space would be saved?

According to Green Plug, 737 million external power supplies will be manufactured for the US alone in 2008. 434 million obsolete and incompatible adapters will be retired, with only 55 million of these being recycled. Green Plug enabled power hubs would eliminate redundancy and waste by standardizing plugs and communicating with each device to negotiate power requirements.
Company CEO Frank Paniagua, Jr. was named a DEMOgod at the DEMO 08 conference in Palm Desert, California for his presentation introducing the product. Green Plug's programmable microcontrollers are designed for use in multi-port universal power hubs. The company intends to license its Greentalk power protocol and universal connector designs royalty-free. This would allow device manufacturers to eliminate external power adapters, as consumers purchase one universal power supply to use with all DC devices.
