Whirlpool Introduces Green Kitchen

Whirlpool recently unveiled its Trekish-looking "green kitchen" concept. The as yet unnamed amalgam of appliances will supposedly divert up to 60% of the water and heat generated by appliances to fuel other appliances.

Whirlpool Green Kitchen Concept

The concept is modeled after the cycle of nature, which optimizes the use of heat and water, and is expected to increase energy efficiency up to 70%. For example, the refrigerator will use heat produced by its compressor (the only appliance that runs 24/7) to heat up water for the dishwasher. Many simple changes will add to the kitchen's efficiency as well. For instance, since cold air sinks, the refrigerator will be more like a drawer than a cabinet so the cold air won't literally fall out.

In addition to being eco-friendly, owners can expect to save an average of 24% on water, heat and energy costs.
