LG Introduces Large Capacity Eco Steam Direct Drive Washers

Direct drive is no longer only for turntables. Sans belts and many inefficient moving parts, the LG Eco Steam washing machine makes the drum into one big motor. This results in extremely quiet operation and simpler maintenance. LG boasts electricity savings

of up to 21 percent over comparable sized washers. In addition to being energy efficient, the appliances save water as well. A built in scale tells the user exactly how much capacity for clothing remains, insuring a full load is run every time. Several cycles and special features use steam, which results in up to 35 percent water savings, according to LG. Water usage is adjusted incrementally to match the weight of the clothing to be washed.

The dimples on the inside of the drum are designed to reduce wear and tear on your clothing, keeping fabrics lasting longer. In addition, steam modes include functions to refresh your wardrobe or eliminate ironing altogether.

These machines can handle up to 20 pounds of clothing, also reducing the number of loads needed. Prices will be in the range of other high-end washing machines, from around $1200 - $1600 depending on the model.
