Laptop Case Can Fully Charge Your Notebook
Dead batteries on a laptop, mobile phone, GPS unit, etc. can really spell disaster these days when everyone needs to be constantly connected, either for work or other reasons. Voltaic Systems Inc. has developed a solution, and a very green one at that.

Voltaic's new laptop case, the Generator, is the first of its kind capable of fully charging a laptop computer. Its tightly packed high efficiency solar cells are capable of generating up to 17 watts over a day of sunlight. An included battery pack stores the electricity, which is the equivalent of a typical laptop charge, and delivers it in the appropriate voltage. The bag also comes with an array of common adapters, a USB connection and a car charger so most laptops, phones and other devices can be charged. Aside from letting you harness the suns rays for power instead of using fossil fuels, the Generator's aluminum frame, its UV resistant polyurethane covering, the webbing, mesh and lining are all made from 100% PET (Polyethylene terephthalate, or more commonly, plastic soda bottles).

The Generator will hold up to a 17" Powerbook and weighs about 4.5 lbs. including the battery pack. It is 17"x12"x 3.5" and has a volume of 700 cubic inches. There is an indicator light on the handle to let you know when it is generating a charge. The bag is black for the most part but you have an option for the colors between the panels including orange, silver, green or charcoal. It is a bit pricey, going for $599 USD, which is probably worth it if you constantly find yourself running out of power.
