HomeEnergy Introduces the Home Energy Ball

Fresh from Sweden comes a new idea in home energy generation. A unique-looking, quiet windmill called the Energy Ball. The company HomeEnergy has developed the aerodynamics of the Energy Ball to accelerate wind through the rotor and achieve high efficiency renewable power generation.

The device will install with limited space and operate silently at wind speeds as low as 4.5 miles per hour. Perfect for the roof of a private home, the Energy Ball plugs directly into an electrical outlet to contribute power to the household. The Energy Ball and inverter can be installed with a stand-alone post or directly on a roof in just 4-6 hours and provide immediate benefits.

Two models are planned, the V100 and V200. The V100 has six blades arranged in a sphere and is intended for supplemental power in low-duty applications.

According to HomeEnergy, the larger V200 version with five blades will be more efficient and generate half of the average Swedish household's electricity consumption. No word yet on pricing or availability in the US.
